The Maltese Asian hornet is reddish brown with a distinctive yellow band on its head and abdomen, starts appearing around the beginning of Summer and keeps active till e d October. The hornet is only aggressive when it is threatened and otherwise keeps on its business of attacking other insects including the beneficial bee . When available it is also attracted to human foods and hence may get dangerous around restaurants serving food outside.
